Lions Biannual Blood Drive
The biannual Blood Drive held March 22nd 2012 at the Union Presbyterian Church was a huge success.

Lions Club Meets
The regular meeting of the Lost Nation Lions Club was called to order by the president Enos Ihns on Saturday May 12th.  The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was given and President Ihns provided the prayer. 
     Guest were District Governor Robert Willits of Betterdorf and Becky Witte of the Midland Times.  District Governor Robert Willits presented President Ihns with the International Governor's pin.  He also presented Bonnie Fulmer with the District Governor's award for her hard work in the club.  Bonnie Fulmer provided the breakfast for the club.  It was a delicious meal.
     District Governor Robert Willits announced the National Beep Baseball Association World Series to be played in Ames July 22 - 28.  There will be up to 20 teams participating, including a team from Taiwan.  This is a ball game for the blind.  Those who can see a little will be blindfolded.  There will only be 1st, 3rd,  and home bases with a beeper in each bag.  Beeper balls can be purchased for $100.00 a ball and can be returned tot the buyer or donated teams.  The Iowa team is called the Iowa Reapers, each Lion Club can nominate one person from their community who is visually impaired and enjoys baseball, to be a VIP at the Championship game.
     District Governor announced charter right for the Andrew Lions Club will be June 1st at 6:00 PM.
     He also announced there are several persons that are having inmates train dogs for the lions Leader Dog School for the Blind.
     Lions are also working on a cure for all types of measled.  Bill Gates is making a donation for every dollar Lions receive to work on this project.
     The card game was played and District Governor Willits  drew Alan Small's name, but no joker.

                            Lions Hold Blood Drive

     The Lions Club sponsored a blood drive at the Union Presbyterian Church Monday, August 27.  Their goal was to collect 49 units of blood between 2:00-7:00 pm.  Sandra Becker and Jennifer Schroeder-Ellis were the lucky winners of the drawing.  The next blood drive will be March 21, 2013.

A check for $500 was presented to Lost Nation Lions Club by Iowa Network Services, Inc. Charity Grant Program to use towards the purchase of a high efficiency cooler in the food stand at Rustic Park. INS presented the award in conjunction with Lost Nation-Elwood Telephone Company. INS created this charity grant program to increase its service and support to the communities it serves and to help bring INS closer to its customers.  Interested groups are encouraged to contact Lost Nation-Elwood Telephone Company for information on applying for the INS Grant.
