Rev. Paul Skelley Rural Ministry Award
Union Presbyterian Church as selected Heidi Smith of Tendoy, ID as the first recipient of the Rev. Paul Skelley Rural Ministry Award.
Ms. Smith, a May 2012 graduate of the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, was chosen from a group of four finalists who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and service in a rural church setting.
Ms. Smith serves as pastor of Salmon First Presbyterian Church in Salmon, Idaho. Salmon is an isolated community in a mountain valley in central Idaho. Salmon is located over 150 miles from a metropolitan center and is isolated by lack of transportation in and out of the valley.
The award was established in 2011 to recognize a University of Dubuque Theological Seminary student who has served with distinction in a rural ministry setting during their seminary studies. The award of
$1000 will be awarded annually in honor of Rev. Paul Skelley, former pastor of Union Presbyterian Church.

Cookie & Candy walk at UPC
The Presbyterian Women held a Cookie and Candy Walk on Saturday, December 1 from 9-11 am. Cookies and candy were sold for $5 per pound, gently used Christmas items were available, coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls were sold in the coffee corner.
