                                                               Library receives grant
      Iowa Network Services, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Lost Nation Public Library is a recipient of the Iowa Network Services Charity Grant Program.  The Lost Nation Public Library requested funds to assist with a wireless access router and Wi-Fi management system to be installed in the new Library on Main Street.  They were awarded a grant for $900.
     INS created this charity grant program to increase its service and support to the communities it serves.  Community groups are encouraged
   The Lost Nation Public Library held a Grand Opening Tuesday, May 22nd from 9 am to 7 pm  at their new location at 410 Main Street.

The Library Board and Director Janene Shannon thank the community for their support of the Library.  More than 130 people visited the Library to see the Wii system, wireless internet, the Workforce program, new books and DVD's.

    The summer reading program runs from June 7th - July 31st.  Sign up for this program the next time you visit the Library.

Grand Opening for Library

Magic Storyteller at the Library


     Chris McBrien, The Magic Storyteller, performed Wednesday, July 18 at the Lost Nation Public Library.  Sixteen children enjoyed his show called "Dream Big-Read!"


     Audience participation is a key part of his show.  Chris McBrien is a mesmerizing and engaging entertainer as well as an educator. He has studied early childhood education, studio art, theater, folklore and business.  He has worked theatrically in London, taught classes K-12 at the Bettendorf Family Museum, marketed the American Academy of Art in Chicago and worked for Clearchannel Communications Worldwide.  He has been an entertainer since age nine.

     He and his wife Jill own and operate "The Magic Storyteller entertainment Company."  Read more about him at www.magicstoryteller.biz

Lost Nation Library News


    On the morning of Dec. 9th Midlands kindergarten class of 49 children and 4 adults took a field trip to our library.  4 book stations involved children with the alphbet,  rhyming, Dr. Suess and three bears storytime. Cat in the Hat and Mother Goose were present!  A total attending that mornng was 73.  Thank you to Lisa Dickman and Pat Gade for helping Stacey and myself with this great morning.


Starting in Nov. there will be craft day once a month ,announced monthly.

Nov. 15th  Craft Day... Crafts for Thanksgiving.  Time will be from 4:00 to 5:00

Nov. 20th Movie Day...Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, movie opens at 1:30 and starts at 1:45

Starting August 20th the new hours will be from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM  Monday  - Thursday
